Chapel at Karinakanahalli
During one of the visits to the Mission fields, our Edavaka Mission members met with believers at a village under the Shivanapuram Mission field of the Mar Thoma Evangelistic Association. They expressed their difficulties due to non availablity of a Worship place at their vicinity and their financial inablity to construct a Chapel nearby.
The Bethel Mar Thoma Church, Krishnarajapuram, Bangalore has decided to defray the expenses for the construction of a Chapel of size 40" X 25" at an estimated cost of Rs.130,000/-Our Diocesan Episcopa, Rt.Rev Dr. Zacharias Mat Theophilus has graciously approved the proposal and encouraged it.
Karinaikanahalli is a small village under the Shivanapuram Mission Fieldof the Mar Thoma Evangelistic Association. This village is about 10 Kms away from Kolar Town off the Bangalore-Kolar National Highway. The Gospal reached this village long back and there are about 20 Christian families in the village. Two of the believers are serving as Evangelists under the Mar Thoma Evangelistic Association at different fields.
One of our believers has donated a prime piece of land having an area of about 121/2 cents from his one acre land for the construction of the chapel.
The foundation stone for the Chapel was laid by His Lordship Rt. Rev.Geevarghese Mar Athanasius Episcopa, President of the Mar Thoma Evangelistic Association on 26th February 2003. Rev.TO Joseph, General secretary of the Evangelistic association, Rev.CV Mathew, the Missionary and Rev. Joseph Daniel, our vicar were present besides many Achens of the Bangalore Centre and a large congregation.
By Gods Grace, the Karinakanahalli chapel which was constructed by our contribution and leadership was dedicated by our Diocesan Bishop on 2nd Aug 2003. We are proud that ours is the first such mission outreach endeavour among the Marthoma parishes in Bangalore.
